LHB worked with L.W. Survey on this 700-mile fiber optic cable project for Williams Communications that spanned four states: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. LHB provided engineering and drafting of preliminary, bid, construction and as-built alignment sheets for multiple routes; detail sheets for environmental avoidance areas; road and railroad crossings; horizontal directional drilling (HDD); and slick bore detail drawings.
Construction details for facilities such as manholes and hand holes, bridge attachments and crossings permits were generated for the construction phase of the projects.
The project involved detail route surveying, researching of foreign utility requirements and drafting of property plats prior to construction, and drafting of as-built alignment sheets subsequent to construction.
LHB also obtained, scanned and converted city utility maps to an electronic format to assist in locating existing underground utilities in relation to proposed routes.
System maps depicting all possible and alternative routes were generated to give an over view of the projects to assist Williams Communication in determining the best possible route configuration for the fiber optic cable.
