Center for Energy and Environment
Project Type: Office Renovation
Client: Center for Energy and Environment
The Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) hired LHB to re-imagine their current traditional workplace located in an historic warehouse building in downtown Minneapolis.
LHB introduced an open plan with workstations that provided spatial separation while still encouraging casual interaction amongst peers. Various gathering areas were provided to encourage both formal and informal meetings that vary from scheduled presentations to brainstorming sessions.
Varied lighting with daylight controls, skylights, and visual access to existing windows for all occupants establishes a well-lit and pleasant place to work.
Careful consideration of acoustical control was provided through acoustical clouds, dynamic planar surfaces and physical separation.
Additional amenities include bike racks, an open lab for research and demonstrations, a custom bookcase, glass ‘blackboards’, a media center, and writing walls resulting in a very creative, playful, and stimulating environment. The collaboration between LHB and the open-minded leadership at CEE produced an environment that encourages creative collaboration while respecting the need for individual working styles.
