Seward Community Co-op Friendship Store
Project Type: New Retail Co-op
Client: Seward Community Co-op & Cresa Development
LHB provided architectural, structural and civil engineering, and landscape architecture services for the Seward Community Co-op’s second location, the Friendship Store. Due to the acquisition and rezoning of property, the project began with a series of community meetings and discussions with the City of Minneapolis. Throughout the design phases of this project LHB targeted LEED NC for Retail Gold Certification.
The project was also accepted into Xcel Engery’s Energy Design Assistance program. The new retail co-op features a 15,640 square foot first floor containing a grocery retail space, various support spaces, seating area to support deli customers, and a community classroom. The 4,380 square foot second floor houses offices, open office space, a staff break room and access to a rooftop deck.
