SCTCC Medium Heavy Truck & Auto Addition
Project Type: Maintenance Garage Addition
Client: St. Cloud Technical and Community College
The new addition (approximately 18,650 sq ft) creates a dynamic entry point to the Medium Heavy Truck and Autobody program spaces. Attached to the existing building, this new construction consists of a conference room, offices, student gathering space, resource room, tool and equipment storage, an autobody lab, toolbox storage, as well as short and long bay spaces.
In order to address space and safety concerns and to address inefficiencies, a predesign was developed by LHB for the Medium Heavy Truck addition and Autobody renovation project at St. Cloud Technical and Community College. The facility provides additional Autobody program space through the renovation of approximately 5,400 sq ft. The existing mezzanine, combined with building additions, meets program storage needs. Demolition of a portion of the existing facility allowed for enhanced maneuverability throughout the tight exterior building vehicular circulation path.
The long bay portion includes the main shot, a multi-purpose wash bay, and pallet racking. There is adequate space for future cold storage expansion. An upper level mezzanine over the Medium Heavy Truck tool and equipment area, offices, conference room, student gathering space, and toolbox storage area contains mechanical and storage.
