In the fall of 2007 Enbridge (U.S.) started another of their major pipeline expansion projects to recycle the diluents that are added to the thick bitumen-like tar sand oil to make if flowable. This 20 “ 46-mile diluents line runs from Manhattan, Illinois to Streator, Illinois. The project was built entirely on new R.O.W “Green Field.” LHB services to Enbridge for this $100,000,000 project included assisting with the acquisition of R.O.W. and easements. This work included property research in three counties, the section break down of 55 government sections, and legal descriptions and exhibits for 182 tracts for purchasing the new R.O.W. LHB Performed the preliminary detailed design survey which included a topographical field survey of the entire 46 miles of new pipeline by 150 feet wide and developed the detailed CADD mapping and pipe line alignment used in the final construction plans. Theconstructability field review was performed on the entire 46 miles of new R.O.W. The project createddetailed design survey and mapping for 24 water body crossings, and 20 road crossings along with providing the design survey, property exhibits, civil site design, construction staking, and construction assistance for the new Enbridge Manhattan terminal site. This site includes two tanks, a pump, substation, containment dikes, storm water containment, switch gear building, offices, and Manifold.
