38th Street Station
Project Type: Urban Design
Client: The Lander Group
A new transit-oriented development at 38th and Hiawatha combines a vibrant public realm with a convenient mix of transit options. In partnership with the City of Minneapolis and Metro Transit, the developer is planning to construct a new portion of city street to replace the existing bus turnaround and improve the connection to the adjacent LRT station. A rich mix of retail, office, and housing will stimulate this underutilized corner, while protecting the character of the community and the well-loved Cardinal Bar.
LHB has been closely involved in the coordination and entitlement process with the City and Metro Transit, navigating their requirements for this unique and complex project. Our team has provided design development and construction documentation for the new city street and sidewalks, public plazas, private landscape, civil engineering, and architecture. When complete, this project will transform the corner and fulfill the City and neighborhood’s vision for this significant development.
