Jasper School Historic Structure Report
Project Type: Historic Structure Report, Jasper, MN
Client: Reclaim Community
LHB was selected by Reclaim Community to prepare an Historic Structure Report for Jasper’s historic school building. The building was original constructed in 1911 with significant additions in 1939, 1956, 1959, and 1965 before being decommissioned in 2001. The earliest additions prominently feature the Sioux quartz “Jasper” stone mass masonry that comprise many of the oldest buildings in the region.
The foundation of our Historic Structure Report will be the development of the history of the school, as coordinated by AKAY Consulting. This will include a detailed history of the property, including its historic function and any significant personal, architectural, or local history associated with it.
LHB will rely on its experience with the unique masonry in the area to conduct a thorough conditions assessment and accessibility audit and code review. Our team will determine a treatment approach and develop repair recommendations that align with future plans for the facility that meet the Secretary the Interior Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. We are also partnering with Conrad Schmitt Studios to prepare an interior finishes report and American Engineering Testing to provide mortar testing.
