Project Type: Park Development

Client: Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department

Lilydale Regional Park is a 636-acre park located in the south central Mississippi River flat area of Saint Paul. The park provides hiking and biking trails, fossil hunting, fishing, and more, set in a unique floodplain forest habitat with historic remnants from its past as a brickyard and town.

Through an extensive public process, LHB developed a master plan for the redevelopment of the park that focuses on preserving the site’s natural and cultural heritage. Following adoption of the master plan, LHB continued to work with the city through multiple phases of implementation.

Implementation required environmental remediation of two former land-fill sites, construction of a new parkway road and small parking lots, additional on- and off-road trails and boardwalks, rest areas, an open space park pavilion located on the shores of Pickerel Lake, restoration of a historic bridge, interpretive signage, and a gateway monument.
